Luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) are a popular choice for flooring due to their durability, affordability and versatility.
LVT is made from a combination of synthetic materials, including polyvinyl chloride (PVC), fibreglass, and a plasticizer, making it easy to care for and maintain.
It’s available in various styles, including wood, stone, and tile.
LVT is an ideal flooring for high-traffic areas, such as kitchens and living rooms.
It’s also a great choice for homes with pets, as it’s resistant to scratches and dents.
How To Fit LVT Flooring?
There are two main methods to fit luxury vinyl flooring: floating installation and glue-down installation.
Floating installation is the most common method and involves locking the tiles together with a tongue-and-groove system.
Glue-down installation takes more time, but provides a more secure bond between the tiles and the subfloor.
How To Lay Luxury Vinyl Tiles?
The first step is to prepare the subfloor. The subfloor should be clean, dry, and free of cracks or holes.
Next, you will need to install a moisture barrier. This is especially important if you are installing LVT in a wet area, such as a kitchen or bathroom.
Once the moisture barrier is in place, you can start laying the tiles. Start in the centre of the room and work your way out.
Once all of the tiles are laid, you will need to seal the seams. This will help to protect the flooring from moisture and spills.
What Rooms Is It Suitable For ?
LVT can be used in any room in the home, but is particularly well-suited for high-traffic areas, such as kitchens and living rooms.
However, LVT is not suitable for areas that are exposed to direct sunlight, as the UV rays can fade the colour of the flooring.
